Marriage
Congratulations on your decision to get married.
If you wish to get married in St Patrick's, then please contact one of the priests to arrange the details.
We can help and advise you on the planning of your marriage in St Patrick's and we have the added advantage of being able to offer not only a beautiful church but also a hall that is handy for the wedding reception and beautiful grounds for the photographs.
We ask that you attend a marriage preparation course in preparation for your married life together and to help you prepare for the marriage ceremony itself. We will try to adapt this to your needs and work commitments, but the sooner you make the arrangements the better.
If you don't belong to St Patrick's Parish, you will need to get the written permission of your own parish priest to get married here.
You can phone one of the Priests on 01389 762503 to make an appointment to book the date, or you can email us at enquiries@stpatricksdumbarton.org.uk.
Baptism
First of all, congratulations on the birth of your child.
Just as this is an important event in the life of your family, so it is an important event in the life of the family of St Patrick's and we would like to celebrate this with you as part of that family.
We ask you to come to a talk and to a Rite of Welcome before the actual Baptism.
When you first make contact to ask about Baptism, you will be invited to come and speak to one of the priests who will talk about some aspects of Baptism and get you to fill out a form with details, such as names and dates. That will also be an opportunity for you to choose a date for the Baptism. Before the Baptism however you will be invited to come to a talk in the Chapel house. These talks always take place on the last Friday of every month at 7.30pm. The talk is for both Parents and Godparents. In this talk we look at how the parish can support you in your efforts to pass on the faith to your child. We also tell you about the Rite of Welcome which will take place on the following Sunday at 10am Mass.
We also look more closely at the Service of Baptism itself and what it means. You can arrange the date for the Baptism at this time and it can be held on any of the Sundays following the Rite of Welcome.
If you have any further questions then please contact one of the Priests on 01389 762503.
or
you can e-mail us at enquiries@stpatricksdumbarton.org.uk
It would be helpful if you could fill in the Baptismal request form and either e-mail it to us or bring it along on the night of the talk.
If you are not in St Patrick's parish but wish your child to be baptised here, then we ask that you speak to the parish priest of your own parish first and get his written approval.
We look forward to welcoming your new child into the Church.
