Christmas Message
It’s nice to see all the Christmas lights at this time of year. It certainly brightens up the dark nights and warms our hearts with a little bit of joy. For some people, it is in keeping with the joy and excitement that they already feel in their hearts; for others, it is a little relief from the worries and anxieties that can seem heavier at this time of year. For a few, the lights mean nothing and, if anything, are sore reminders of the darkness they carry around with them and can’t shake off. Perhaps the council could use the money for a more practical purpose, but we all need joy in our life, we all need little moments of escape from a life that can be drab and dreary. We won’t go through life with the carefree joy of childhood, but we need moments of joy and hope and at least some time in our life where we know that it is good to be alive and good to have others around us. The lights and sparkle of Christmas are all very well and good, but there is something better to fill our hearts with warmth and hope and that is the kindness we show to one another. That can make a real difference to someone this Christmas. It is so simple to do and yet it can change a life by bringing hope and lifting people out of a dark place that has lost faith in others. As Christians we believe in sin, but more importantly we believe in goodness. As we celebrate the birth of Christ, the Angels message was of peace to all people of good will. Through our good will, may we know peace this Chrsitmas.
